In the framework of astroparticle physics, nuclear astrophysics, and quantum computing research, it is essential to identify underground laboratories where the cosmogenic background is significantly reduced. Situated approximately 500 meters from the center of Trento (Italy), the Piedicastello tunnels lie beneath 100 meters of limestone rock forming the Doss Trento hill. The site spans over 6000 m2 and currently serves as a venue for events, temporary exhibitions, and educational programs. The cosmogenic background was assessed at various locations inside the Piedicastello tunnels using three portable scintillator telescopes with different geometrical acceptances. In the deepest section, the muon flux was measured to be roughly two orders of magnitude lower than at the surface. This initial measurement indicates the potential suitability of the site as a facility where a low environmental background is necessary.
